More about Multipoint Timber Door Locks
A weakness in the system is the euro cylinder barrel so we advise fitting a high security version, here’s a link to the “Avocet ABS” high security euro cylinder.
Usually when using a multipoint lock on a timber door a 45mm backset lock is preferred (depth of the lock body – front of faceplate to centre of handle spindle), although 35mm backset and 55mm backset could also be used depending on the frame width.
Some of the locks in this section are also available with a 20mm wide faceplate instead of the standard 16mm width. Generally it is easier to cut a 20mm groove down the edge of the door for the faceplate instead of a 16mm groove.
The locks on this page have fully retractable locking points so an air gap is not required between the sash and the frame, so no rebate is required (except on double french doors). These multipoint locks are also suitable for wooden doors with an air gap between the sash and frame (except the “GU 2 Mini Hook” and “Ferco Tripact”).
